Why we made it
A sold gift card is money the shop owes the customer. Yet most gift card plugins just let you change the balance on a card, without showing how it got there.
We wanted gift cards where every change stays on record. Then you can answer the customer at the till, and the accountant at year end, with the same numbers.
How it works
From sale until the last krone is spent.
A customer buys a gift card
The gift card is an ordinary product in your shop, with fixed or custom amounts. It is sent by email with a PDF and QR code, or as a physical card.
The card is used
Online, the code goes in at checkout. In the shop, you redeem it from WordPress, or with the till app in Pro.
You keep track
Every card shows its full history, and the list shows how much is outstanding today.
Under the hood
- Nothing is overwrittenEvery balance change is its own row: when, how much, which channel, which location and who.
- Codes are safeCard codes are stored only as a hash and an encrypted copy. Nobody can read them in plain text from the database.
- No trackingThe free version makes no external calls. Pro connects your site to Hyndla once and only sends what it needs.
- Switch without losing anythingImport from WP Swings, PW Gift Cards or CSV. The codes your customers already have keep working.

Questions and answers
- Do I need Pro?
- Not necessarily. The free version is enough for most online shops. Pro is for you if you have a physical shop, several locations or want to give your accountant reports.
- Does it work with the WooCommerce block checkout?
- Orders and totals work with both. The gift card code field currently shows only on the classic checkout. A block for the block checkout is on its way.
- What happens if I cancel Pro?
- Your subscription runs to the end of the period you paid for. After that, updates and the till app stop, but the free version and all your cards keep working.
- Renewal and refunds?
- Pro renews automatically. On a yearly plan you get a reminder 14 days ahead. You can get a full refund on your first purchase within 14 days, no reason needed.
- Where is the data stored?
- The cards live in your own WordPress database. What Pro sends to Hyndla is stored in the EU.
